Product Features

 

1. The piston actuator is pneumatically driven and requires no pressure regulation.

The FISHER 585C actuator is pneumatically operated, using a high-pressure air source of up to 150 PSIG (10.3 bar) from factory compressed air. A pressure regulator is typically not required.


2.Compared to other structures, it has greater output force and faster operating speed.The piston actuator provides maximum output force and rapid drive speed. Available in double-acting and spring-return types.


3.The piston actuator can be double-acting to provide maximum force in both directions, or spring-returning to provide loss-open or loss-close operation. A position-holding valve and locking device can be added to maintain the valve position when the air supply is cut off.


4. Various accessories can be installed to position the double-acting piston when the air supply pressure is cut off. These accessories include pneumatic guard valves and locking systems. Rotary piston actuators with sliding seals can be directly connected to the valve shaft, without connecting parts or transmission losses.


5.Other types of piston actuators used in rotary control valves have a sliding seal at the lower end of the cylinder. This allows the actuator push rod to rotate circumferentially and move up and down without leakage of cylinder pressure. This feature allows the actuator to be directly mounted to the actuator lever fixed to the rotary valve shaft, thus eliminating the need for connecting parts and eliminating the gas source for dynamic losses.

Q: What is the distinctions between piston and diaphragm actuator?

A: Diaphragm actuators are fundamentally one way and spring return so are well suited to low to medium thrust applications for general process control. Piston actuators provide the higher pressure and larger thrust capacities plus tight shut-off in severe duty applications.
